New Host Family...for now!
So I have been at my second host family's house since Sunday night and I will stay with them until Sunday. (1 week) Because mai and pai (first host fam) are taking a business trip to Sao Paulo. My second family is very nice...and very big. They own a business called 'Widitech' that works with electronics and machines. And almost everyone plus some (extended family) works in the business so most of them live here too. Sandra is the mom, Wilson is the dad, then Betina the sister who is 14, Felipe the brother who is 18, Roberta another sister wi]ho is 26, Daisy another sister who is 21, and a dog that lives outside in the freezing cold weather, and then a bunch of people are always over for dinner or something. HUGE FAMILY! Always busy busy busy! And the house is huge too! It even has a sun roof that overlooks the town. 2nd house is also only about 1 minute away from my 1st home. Which also makes it about 10 minutes walking distance from school...hahaha small town, Panambi.
All clothing and shoes are sooooo expensive here! Like, 100 US dollars for a pair of jeans!!! LOCAAAAA. And all the girls wear lycra all the time. (it's like spandex only...different) So I have bought a pair of jeans and lycra. It's really annoying, there are NO dryers for clothes. So if you want to wear a certain pair tomorrow and they are dirty, then it doesn't happen...plus it takes forever to dry the jeans/clothes because it's so cold here. Humph!
School has been...boring lately. I talk to friends but after a while the teacher gets angry. And classmates have had many tests so I have to go out into the hall and each test is an hour and a half. I basically listen to music and read for hours on end. Monday I sat in the hall with nothing to do for 3 hours....ahhhhh! Rotary here is trying to change that for the exchange students here...because it's stupid. The classes here for the 3rd year (which is also the last year) are: History, Chemistry, Physics, Math, English, Portuguese, Physical Education, Geography...and possibly more that I forgot. The geography teacher thinks I'm a retard apparently...the first class I had with her, she came up to me and gave me 2 books of brasil opened to a map of brazil. She said, "thissssss issss Brazilllll" (waving around at Brazil of course. Then, "thisssss isssss riooo grande do sullll". (all in a really slow tone of voice like I couldn't hear her very well) Honestly, does she really think I would come to Brazil and not know where I was going and what it was called?!
Oi! And my second host family said that I may be able to go with Felipe to Argentina to go skiing when I live here for permanent. He's taking a week long trip somewhere in AR where it's gorgeous and the mountains are huge!!!! AHHHH I hope I can go! =D It all depends on if the border people let me, etc. Ah, it's so pretty there...Roberta went there on vacation and brought back many photos. Beautiful!!!!
Last friday and saturday were a blastttt! I love my friends here! This coming Friday I am going to play snooker(billiards or pool) with one of christians friends that lives here in Panambi and a bunch of other friends. Then Sunday is a party for everyone in the 3rd grade at CEP. Fun funnn!!!
For now, BEIJOS!
By the way, for everyone that made the 'plane pack' before I left: THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!! I love you all and miss you all and I really enjoyed everything in that awesome pack! =D

First Impressions
Oiiiiii!!!!
I am now safe in Brasil and finally have time to actually write my first blog! :) Brasil has been more than exciting...for those of you who dont know, I arrived in Brasil Wednesday. I actually got to my city, Panambi, Thursday afternoon. I spent Wednesday touring Porto Alegre with Christian, his friends, and my parents! Porto is a beautifullll city. They have horses to drive around and pick up the garbage! How cool! :)
When I first walked into Christians apartment on Wednesday night, I took off my shoes. Haha...mistake number 1 out of manyyyyy. My parents started to yell chanelossss chanelosss. Chanelossss (spelling) =flip flops. They alwayssss wear shoes or flip flops in the house. Everywhere in the house. Even the shower. :) There is also no heating in any buildings here. And it actually gets pretty cold here...20 degrees at night. And no heating. Brrrrrrr. But I survive. :D The first morning at my house in panambi, I woke up to extremely loud screeches. (this was at about 6 in the morning) At first I thought it was monkeys. I came down to eat breakfast later in the morning and asked Christian what it was. Apparently my host father likes to keep birds in the garage. He likes the...screeches errrr tweets.
On Saturday there was a traditional debutante type party. I wore this...interesting dress while the guys wore gaucho attire. I have pictures that I will post when we get internet at home (im using the work computer at the store). They are verrrrry funny. I stayed up verrry late at the party and had a blast! :D
Monday I had my first day of school. And of course I was late! :) I had to fill out paperwork in the office and then toured the school with some nice lady. The nice lady then took me to my class and introduced me. Everrrrryone was curious about me and tried to speak English to me. They were all very nice, though. I made friends instantly. The classes are super boring though...I understand nothing and so I doodle or send notes to my friends. Its almost all lectures. Everyone talks over the teacher too. And they all throw papers around... Haha. On Wednesday during snacktime, a huge group of little children found out I was an American. WOW...I've never seen a group of little kids so excited, hahaha. They all ran up to me with each holding a piece of paper and pen asking for my autograph. It was sooooo cute. They were all so excited to see me! :D
My host parents are super nice. They decorated my room with maps of Brasil and Panambi. They even gave me a little towelette with my name written on it! My parents don't speak any English though...only Portu and German. I've had to use my dictionary constantly and I always have to write things down and vice-versa. It's sorta frustrating...okay, really frustrating. But, I will learn faster this way and it will put more pressure on me to learn the language, which is a good thing. :) For now, I just do a lot of watching and listening. I will start personal Portu lessons with my counselor's daughter very soon though. My host house is very nice as well. There is this opening/closing gate at the entrance. What's odd though is that there is no door from outside to the inside...it's just an open archway type thing. I don't know what most of the stuf I eat is...but it's all really good and I swear I'm already gaining weight...
Friday I am hanging out with friends from school and then eating a type of hamburger: "x". Then to the pool pub!!! :) Apparently I am the best woman pool player according to Christian. AHAHA. On Saturday some guy that I don't know is having a going away party and I'm going to that! :D So I will update after all of these things happen. But for now TCHAUUUU.
I will post my address later...I forgot what it is, aha.
P.S. Chicken-heart pizza is actually pretty good...but chocolate pizza is by far the best! :P
P.S.S. Chimarrao is also tasty. I am heading to the square to drink some now!
